Alexandra Haugan 

Degree: B.S.Agr. Animal & Nutritional Sciences, Equine Studies minor with an emphasis in equine management, December 2013 

Career: After graduation, Haugan completed an internship in Sleepy Hollow, New York on a competitive carriage horse farm. Upon completion, she was hired by Hudson Pines Farm as a driving groom where she managed the barn, the fitness of the carriage horses, and served as driving groom for two years. Haugan is currently employed in sales with a benefits management company in Georgia.

Working Student Experience/Teaching Assistant: Haugan was a working student at the WVU Horse Unit at the JW Ruby Research Farm her junior and senior year. She assisted with all aspects of the daily care of the horses and maintained the facilities. Haugan also served as a Teaching Assistant for A&VS 370, the Riding Theory & Techniques class, where she assisted with lessons and gained valuable teaching experience. Claim to Fame: Haugan’s current employer is the US Show Jumping Team Veterinarian! 

WVU Student Organizations: Haugan was a member of the WVU English Equestrian Team for two years, and an active member in WVU Collegiate Horsemen’s Association. Both organizations improved her horsemanship skills and expanded her knowledge of the horse industry. About Attending WVU: WVU will be the best time of your life. Do everything you can while you are there. Take extra classes, volunteer, and go above and beyond for your peers and mentors. You can’t believe how valuable those experiences are in the long run!
