The Equine Studies program at West Virginia University is beyond exceptional, with experiential learning opportunities around every bend in your path.

What we offer

West Virginia University’s Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design has a well-rounded equine curriculum combining courses grounded in science, management and therapeutic horsemanship. We offer a minor in Equine Studies with career-driven areas of emphasis in equine science, equine management and equine assisted activities & therapies. Most of our students are Animal & Nutritional Sciences or Agribusiness Management & Rural Development majors, but students from any major may enroll.

The equine studies program is rich in hands-on experiential learning. Our faculty members are experienced horse people from diverse backgrounds. Students in our program have opportunities to be involved in equine-specific student organizations, undergraduate research and working student roles while enrolled.
