Career: Allison currently works at Achieving True Self, a company that provides in-home services to children with autism. She works as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst where she manages a caseload and trains staff to teach social, communication, and academic skills that will help clients succeed in a variety of settings. She hopes of one day opening a riding facility tailored to the needs of children with developmental disorders.
Undergraduate Research: Allison conducted a senior honors thesis studying the ability to improve the amount of praise given to riders by therapeutic riding instructors through behavior analysis techniques. She also volunteered at On Eagles' Wings Therapeutic Horsemanship Center and participated in internships at R.F. Warner Son's Feed Mill, High Ridge Farm helping with lessons and camps, and the Kennedy Krieger institute.
WVU Student Organizations: During her senior year, Allison served as President of Sigma Alpha, a professional agricultural sorority. In Sigma Alpha, Piper honed leadership and public speaking skills that are helping her excel in graduate school.
About Attending WVU: "I quickly learned that WVU offered a variety of opportunities from organizations, to research, coursework, and internships. My education became all that more valuable when I invested my time in those opportunities, giving me the privilege to stand out to graduate schools, gain multiple internships, and make lifelong friends. It also gave me the ability to combine two majors I was passionate about to purse my long-term career goals.”
